LaVelle S. Curd's Obituary
LaVelle Curd, 87, of Sedalia slept into the arms of Jesus on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 3, 2010 at Ward’s Memorial Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John H. Williams officiating, burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 am Friday at the church.
LaVelle S. Curd was born July 9, 1923 in Kansas City, Mo. the daughter of William and Gladys Terrel Shaw. She attended Dunbar Elementary, North East Junior and she graduated from Sumner High School. She accepted Christ at an early age. Mrs. Curd worked in the medical field for years and she retired from Baptist Medical Center. She was a volunteer for the Buckner Head Start in 1999. Tenacious enough she went on to work for Visiting Nurse’s Association. She was a member of the Ward’s Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Wilson Curd in Sedalia whom she loved dearly and he preceded her in death. LaVelle was an enormous believer in Love , family and Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Mary Alice(Gene) Quintin Norwood(Tamela) Verdun Norwood and Leon Norwood. She also leaves 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sons William Norwood and Jerry Norwood.
