I am reflecting today on a lifetime of knowing LaVaughn and his kind presence. I will never forget his compassion and condolences he shared when my Grandma Pinkie passed away back in 1965: even then, his heart was kind.
I feel so fortunate for the more recent years catching up at my sister's home in St. Louis. I am incredibly grateful for technology--the Panther Newsletters he wrote between 2009 and 2011 captured his dedication to the stories of our hometown is a treasured gift.
May the Lord continue to bless Kathryn and the entire family including Lisa and Rocky.

My cousin LaVaughn Wilson was the kindest, funniest, and one of the most real people I've ever met. When I visited Missouri for a family reunion, when I was 22 years old, he taught me how to drive a stick shift, on the freeway! LOL! The next time I went to the reunion, my daughter and I stayed with him and Kathryn and the girls. We had such a wonderful time! And LaVaughn and Marvin often came to our reunions in California. The reunions in both states won't be the same without them. Praying for Kathy and the kids, who are as sweet as adults, as they were as children. Love you all!

He was like a second dad to me because his kids and I were so close. Always kind, hospitable, and funny! He ALWAYS welcomed me in their home and he was an excellent father and a wonderful husband! I used to love watching him and Mrs. Kathryn interact together. If you want to know how a man is... Watch his wife and the easy she looked at him told the story for me. Rest in peace Mr. Lavaughn. You will be greatly missed and forever loved!

To LaVaugh’s family, please do accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. I only have fondest memories of the times our paths crossed. Trust me, he is in a better place, that being with our maker. God has spoken….let the Church say amen….
