Katherine Ann Wilson's Obituary
Katherine Ann Wilson, 48, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at United Community Cathedral at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11-12 on Saturday at the church 1801 Towne Drive, Columbia, MO.
Friday, August 13, 2021 in the evening hour at her home, Katherine Ann Wilson 48, quietly walked into the arms of her heavenly Father.
Katherine Ann Evans was born July 20, 1973, to Andrea Evans and Mike Robinson in Moberly, MO. Katherine’s spiritual journey began with her great-great maternal grandmother, Carrie Butler who quoted scriptures, prayed, and spoke words of wisdom into her young life while combing her hair. She attended church with her at Wright’s Temple COGIC in Moberly, MO. Katherine was baptized in 1985 at Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, IL. under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Covington, Sr. She later became a member of United Community Cathedral in Columbia, MO. She became an ordained minister on May 12, 2017, under the teaching and leadership of Apostle Russell Freeman.
Katherine attended Columbia Public Schools. She received her degrees from Columbia College in Columbia, MO. Katherine obtained her Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration on December 18, 2010. She met the requirements and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology to be awarded on August, 21 2021.
Katherine, a loving and devoted mother, welcomed her daughters Na’Quelle in 1993 and Na’Kiya in 2000. She provided a loving home and built a strong and solid foundation for her children. In 2007, Katherine met her best friend and love of her life, Kristian Wilson. They were united in marriage, July 23, 2011.
Katherine wanted to be of service to people in her community, primarily focusing on at -risk youth. This desire led her to become the founder of COMO Youth Works. She was also the executive director of Inspiring Academy Child Development Center.
Katherine is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kristian, her loving daughters, Na’Quelle Evans and Na’Kiya Evans. Her grandson a.k.a. "Grand loves", Elijah Stapleton. She also leaves to love and cherish her memory, her parents, Andrea Evans and Mike Robinson, her sister, Bridgette Evans and her brothers John (Jennifer) Evans and Michael Hayes. Katherine also leaves her Aunt Brigitte Riggs with whom she shared a special one-of- a-kind relationship; her very special friend and mentor, Elaine Lewis and her mother-in law Ericka Wilson. Katherine also leaves a wealth of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends to honor and cherish her memory.
Katherine was preceded in death by her maternal grandmothers, Carrie Butler, Minnie Ola Poindexter and Norma Jean Evans. Her paternal grandfathers Sylvester “Jack” Briscoe and Elgin Evans, Sr. Her aunts, Karen Hutchinson and Shawn Evans; her uncles, Elgin Evans, Jr., Kevin Evans and Keith Poindexter.
Katherine’s earthly desire was for everyone to prosper and win! One of her favorite scriptures “Galatians 5:22-26 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith . . .” Kat’s heart was huge and full of love. An outgoing woman who was joyful and loved her family unconditionally. Always willing to give but never expecting anything in return. A disciplined woman of God who would give you the hard truth . . . straight shot, no chaser all in the name of love. Katherine fought the good fight; she finished her race. She kept her faith.
