Julia Barksdale's Obituary
Julia Mae Barksdale, 80, of Columbia, Missouri, transitioned from life surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.
Mrs. Barksdale was born July 15, 1937, in Gilmore, Arkansas, to Tommy and Lula Mae (King) Hurd.
Honey; as she was affectionately called by her family; attended elementary and middle school in Caruthersville, Missouri. She graduated from Lovejoy High School and went on to attend Business College.
She loved serving in ministry, cooking, and puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and teaching them to cook and sew.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, James R. Barksdale, her loving daughters, Benita Buckner (Donald), Janet Moss (Waldon) and Janel Barksdale, her grandchildren, Jaala, RayNeesha, and Janay, her great-grandchildren, Kelton and LaMier, her sisters Willie Mae Johnson and Billie Jean Thornton and sisters in love, brothers in love, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and children she gained through serving as the First Lady at Monument of Grace COCIC.
She was preceded in death by her parents Tommy and Lula Mae Hurd, her son, James Barksdale, Jr.; her daughter Judy Denise Barksdale; her sisters Beatrice Rufus and Ruby Johnson, her brothers John Henry Hurd and Tommy Hurd, Jr.
The visitation (9am-11am) with services immediately following will be held at Grace Bible Church, 601 Blue Ridge in Columbia, MO 65202.
