Joyce Elaine Washington's Obituary
Joyce Washington, 62, of Sedalia, MO., passed into eternity on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Saint Luke's Hospice House. . Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017, at 11 AM at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 9-11 AM at the church.
Joyce E. (Hill) Washington, began her earthly journey May 27, 1955 born to the union of Percy James Hill and Ina Jane Hill. Joyce transcended into eternity August 25th, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers: Gary Lee Hill Sr. and Charles Hill, a sister Carolyn Smith, eight nephews: Ronnell Blake, Atawine Hill, Gary Waloke, Wylie
Hill, De Ron McBride, Deon Johnson, Ronald Black and Marlon Hill Sr.
She was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri where she attended public schools graduating from Lincoln High School. Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Church of the living God under the leadership of the late Pastor Ro Ima Jones. Later she became a member of True Vine church Sedalia Missouri and Taylor Chapel AME Sedalia, Missouri.
She met and married Lawrence Authorlee to this union her beloved son Kevin Authorlee was born.
She later relocated to Sedalia Mo. where she met and married Maurice Washington. To this union she was blessed with her beloved daughter Sherre Washington. Joyce attended college achieving her goal becoming a Respiratory therapist. She worked numerous jobs including Bothwell Reginal Hospital Sedalia Mo. and Western Missouri hospital Warrensburg Mo working until she retired.
She was an active member of the NAACP Sedalia chapter. Joyce was a creative writer and composer of Religious plays and skits that were performed in local venues, Churches and parks. She loved to cook and participated in dinner safes for numerous churches and fund raising events. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Kevin Authorlee, and Sherre Washington. Grandchildren Malik Grant, Mauryce Bartlett, and Briasia Jana Aurthorlee. Six sisters: Carol Hill Kansas City, Missouri, Marilyn (William) McKillion, Hope, Arkansas, Alma Almaguer, Kansas City, Missouri. Martha HILL Kansas City, Missouri, Cliftonia Bell, Heartland, Texas, and Camellia Hill Kansas City, Missouri. Four brothers Jerry Hill Minnesota, Reginald (Veronica) Brown, Kansas City, Missouri, William Brown Austin, Texas, Walter Hill, Kansas City, Missouri and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
