Jerry Dean Jones, affectionately known as “Tadpole,” passed away peacefully at his home in Moberly, Missouri, on May 8, 2025, just shy of his 66th birthday.
Born on May 20, 1959, to Liburt Ricketts and Vida Lee Jones, Tadpole lived a life defined by independence, grit, and a deep connection to the natural world. He was a man who walked his own path, finding joy and purpose in the simple things—especially hunting, fishing, and trapping. The outdoors wasn’t just a hobby for him—it was a way of life.
Tadpole’s memory will live on through his children: Jerry Jones Jr., Jasmine Coleman, and Jerrick Coleman. He also leaves behind his brothers, Wilbert Jones and John Roy Jones, and his sister, Darlene Cowans, all of Fayette, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vida Lee Jones and Liburt Ricketts; two sisters, Shirley Jones and Freda Mae Jones; and two brothers, George Jones and Randolph Ricketts.
Tadpole will be remembered for his rugged spirit, his love for the wild, and his unwavering authenticity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
