Janet "Peaches" Crutchfield's Obituary
Janet “Peaches” Crutchfield, 68, of Denver, CO., formerly of Marshall, Mo. passed into eternity in Denver, CO on September 24, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 10, 2014 at 2 pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Marshall. The visitation will be from 1-2 pm at the church.
Janet Louise Crutchfield aka Peaches was born August 22, 1946 in Marshall, Missouri to Gussie Franklin and Myrtle Louise (Murphy/Turks) Bynum. Janet attended classes at Lincoln School and Marshall High School.
At an early age peach joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was baptized by the late Rev. J.S. Spriggs.
On September 21, 1962 she married Paul Sylvester Crutchfield and moved to Malta Bend, MO. Rev. Robert Dabney Performed the ceremony. Shortly after the marriage Paul enlisted in the service and they moved to Tacoma, Washington.
Peach was employed at Fitzgibbon Hospital as a Ward Clerk and later she worked at the Marshall Habilitation Center where she was a Developmental Assistant. She retired in 1994.
In 1995, she moved to Denver, Colorado. Her hobbies include puzzles, string art, playing cards and board games with family, crocheting, garage sales, and singing and playing the piano and organ.
Survivors include her sister Elizabeth Hall, her niece Agnes Lawrence, three great nieces Anita (Turks) Patterson, Alieta Bynum, Tenisha (Lawrence) Bryson, two nephews Clarence Turks Jr. and George Crutchfield, six great great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.
One very special friend Mr, Tim Desmond. He has been with her for the last 8 years and her very loyal caregiver during this last accident and illness
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Clarence (Billy) Turks Sr., her niece Myrtle Lutie Turks and great nephew Jacob Matthew Lawrence.
The nickname “Peach” was given to her by her brother and sister who were 16 and 10 at the time of her birth. That would be “Billy” and “Puddin”.
