Janet Marlene Coleman, 91, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024, at Hartmann Village in Boonville, MO. She was born on April 19, 1933, to Ethel Lucille Coleman in Boonville at 402 Water Street, the house in which she lived for 46 years. She was raised by her grandmother, Helen Brown Coleman.
She went by many names and was lovingly called Net, Mighty, and Aunt Net to name a few. She graduated from Sumner High School, Boonville, MO in 1950, and from Western Baptist Seminary, Kansas City, MO, in 1955. She was employed at Spic and Span Cleaners, Toastmasters, and Boonslick Regional Library.
Though no biological children of her own, she called the following her children: Vicky Moore, St. Louis, MO; Nathaniel (Nate) Brown, Vanessa Haywood and Venetia Brown, Columbia, MO; Chiquita Drew and Brad Drew, Boonville, MO.
She was “Aunt Net” to many generations of her children and was excited to witness a fourth-generation child born last August and was blessed to see her many times.
She enjoyed sports such as Mizzou basketball and football, especially women’s basketball. She was also a fan of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. She loved her vacations and family gatherings with the Drew Family and loved her concerts at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville. She saw Chubby Checker twice and said he put on the best shows and always came out into the audience.
She is survived by her children, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends, and her phone buddies —Ms. Katherine Bass and Ms. Nettie White.
She is preceded in death by her mother, grandmother and two brothers Theodore W. Brown, Jr. and Richard H. Brown
