James Melvin Lewis, 64, of Boonville, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2 PM at HT May & Son Funeral Home in Boonville. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM at the funeral home on Tuesday.
James Melvin Lewis, 64, of Boonville, MO passed away at Cooper County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
James, the son of the late Ruby Lewis, Sr. and Marie Harris Lewis, was born October 8, 1953 in Boonville, MO. James, a 1971 graduate of Boonville High School was a hard and dedicated worker. He was employed with the City of Boonville for 17 years. He also worked at Nordyne and Kemper Military School for many years. James attended New Hope Christian Church in Boonville, MO.
James is survived by the apple of his eye, his beloved son, Joshua Lewis of Kansas City, MO, his sisters, Cheryl Richard of Atlanta, GA, Theresa Prince of Boonville, MO and Chenita Raines of Tupelo, MS; two brothers, Kenneth Lewis and Thaddeus Lewis of Boonville, MO and his devoted partner, Janet Graves of Boonville, MO.
James also leaves to cherish his memory his uncle, Al Lewis of Kansas City, MO and his aunt, Virginia Lewis of Kansas City, MO., a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents, Jesse George Harris and Carrie Scott Butler, his paternal grandparents William Henry Lewis and Georgia Ann Lewis, his brothers Ruby (Cannon Ball) Lewis, Jr., Robert Lewis, an infant brother and sister and his niece, Brandi Lewis.
James Melvin will always be remembered for his vibrant smile, his quiet, humble spirit and his willingness to lend a helping hand. James loved music, especially the Blues and watching sports. You could always catch him riding around on a beautiful day just taking in the scenery and enjoying life.
