James R. Kemp's Obituary
James Richard Kemp, 93, formerly of Kansas City, MO departed this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO.
“Jimmy” was born November 29, 1919 just north of Sedalia, MO on the Steele Farm, one of five children born to the union of Fannie Mae Jameson and Richard Kemp. He and his family were sharecroppers in the Beamon-Georgetown area.
As an adult, Jimmy moved to the Kansas City area where he worked at a funeral home, and several other places. He loved the Kansas City area, only coming to visit family in Sedalia for about an hour at a time, at least once a month. He was always in a hurry to get back “home”.
He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Maceo Kemp and William Delaney Kemp, and two sisters: Susie Kemp-Todd and Lucille Kemp-Rice. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Jimmy requested to be cremated. A private family memorial will be planned in the near future.
He will be dearly remembered and missed.
