James E Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
James Elijah Johnson, age 75, was born on July 30, 1950, to James and Stella Johnson. He was welcomed home on January 9, 2026.
James was a proud graduate of David H. Hickman High School, Class of 1968, where he also played football. He continued his education at Lincoln University, attending for two years. Following his schooling, James began a dedicated career at University Hospitals and Clinics, where he served as a Supervisor in Environmental Services. After many years of faithful and committed service, he retired from the University.
In retirement, James embraced life fully, finding great joy and peace in the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting, hobbies that brought him contentment and relaxation. He lived his life with quiet purpose and appreciation for the simple joys around him.
James leaves to cherish his memory his son, Anthony Hatton (Elaine Hatton); his brother, Archie Brooks (Eleanor Brooks); his sister, Kathy Sims; along with other loving family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Johnson; his mother, Stella Johnson; and his sister, Sandra Johnson.
James will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Services will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbia. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday at the church. Services will be live streamed at 12:00 PM on https://www.facebook.com/htmayfuneralhome.
