James Coleman's Obituary
James Coleman, 75, of Columbia slept into the arms of Jesus on Sunday April 27, 2014 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the HT May & Son Funeral Home in Columbia.
He was born December 7, 1938 in Columbia, Mo. to the late Harry and Maggie Coleman.
He attended Frederick Douglass High School. He was previously employed by the City of Columbia and Kappa Delta Sorority House. He was employed in recent years by several local companies as a custodian and retired from B & G Labor in October 2012.
He married Mary J. (Buckner) Coleman on July 9, 1959 and this marriage was later dissolved.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Two sons; Carlos B. Buckner, James (Jimmy) R. Coleman, Jr. (Diane), Winona Coleman-Broadus (James), and Janie A. Coleman all of Columbia, Missouri; one sister Martha Hayes, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He also leaves a special friend; Gina Lanston and her Daughter Gina Conley.
He was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, two sisters, two grandsons (Brandon R. Coleman and ShaVar S. Buckner).
All who knew him will attest that he was a hard working man who loved excitement and lived life to it’s fullest. Those who loved him; knew him as being “opinionated and outspoken.”
