James T Carter II's Obituary
James T. Carter II, 42, of Sedalia, passed into eternity on Saturday, October 29, 2016, in Columbia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at the Compass Church, 600 Silvey St. Columbia, Mo. 65203 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11-1 PM Saturday at the church.
James Thomas Carter II affectionately known as "Poopey and JT" was born August 10, 1974, in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of James and Deborah Carter. James was called home to glory on Saturday, October 29, 2016.
James was preceded in death by his father James T Carter, Paternal Grandparents Cleven and Leona Carter, Maternal Grandfather Author Strickland 3 Aunts Lurlene Davenport, Brenda Davis and Marquita Gordon, 3 uncles John Davenport, Lathell Strickland, and Roosevelt Jones.
James graduated from Center High School of Kansas City Mo, where he picked up the passion for weightlifting. James accomplished many great things throughout his life. He was an Olympic Weightlifter for the USA Weightlifting Team in Colorado Springs Colorado where he won many competitions that lead him to travel to many places, and granted him the opportunity to visit Indonesia, Germany, Czechoslovakia, just to name a few. James loved life,also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hosting large gatherings for family and friends. After weightlifting came to an end James found a new passion and went to Columbia Beauty Academy of Columbia Mo, where he obtained his professional Barber License. He first started his barber career at Unitee Barber Salon in Columbia MO and later was able to establish his own business as JT'S CUTZ, however, his greatest passion was the love he had for family, with James it was always family first.
James was a beautiful person with a kind a gentle spirit, he never met a stranger, always friendly and outgoing, but yet a man of a few words. He was never angry or spoke harsh words towards anyone, he always saw best in everyone. James was truly a giving person , he helped and touch so many lives along the way. He had a heart of gold and generosity beyond imagination. He often spoke of the spiritual guidance he would receive from the people that was placed in his life and called it a blessing. James accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
James leaves to cherish his memories his mother Deborah Carter and maternal grandmother Joyce McClanahan of the home in Sedalia Mo, son James T Carter III, daughter Ja'Tahjia Collier of Columbia Mo. sister Loretta Jones and brother Nicholas Mathis both of Kansas City MO. Five aunts Karen Bellmont (Charles), Author Mae Jobolaski (Edward), Barbara Jones, Loretta Chase, Gloria Vanoy (Charles). Six Uncles Maurice Strickland (Tonya), Booker Carter (Lida), Grover Carter (Monique) Robert Carter (Ruby), Eric Carter (Azzielee), Alfred Gordon, and Deandre Carter. Two nieces Remi Reese and Zemon Jones, one nephew Anthony Jones, and his best friend Willard Young.
James had a special friend and companion of 17 years Sharmain Collier and a stepson Ja'Marii Tucker whom he cared for and loved as his own.
