I've just reread the memories that others have shared about Butch and it makes me smile to see that we all felt the same way about him. His love for Jesus, his loving, caring spirit, his smile, his compassion, his gentleness and kindness, his support and encouragement. I could go on and on. He was all that and so much more.
I tell people that when they met Butch, they met Jesus! He made we want to be bolder in sharing my faith. I used to tell him that I wanted to be just like him when I grew up and I'm 6 months older than he. There wasn't anything I couldn't share with him (and I did that a lot) knowing that in return I would be met with an understanding spirit and love from my 'brother.' Then we would pray together and everything seemed so much better.
He was my friend and my brother in Christ. I loved him and I will miss him everyday as will all of his MSTA family. There is an emptiness in the hallways that his laughter used to fill and a dimness left by the absence of his smile. But we will meet again one day, my brother. I hope my mansion is next door to yours!!!
