Ida Hopkins' Obituary
Mrs. Ida Bell Hopkins, 82, Boonville, Missouri, (formerly of Otterville, Missouri), departed this life peacefully at home on Monday morning, January 20, 2020. Services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 10 AM at Open Bible Praise Center in Boonville. Visitation will be from 9-10 AM at the church.
She was born in Speed, Missouri on December 17, 1937, the daughter of Robert and Anna Belle Crump Smith, who preceded her in death. On May 22, 1954, she married John Allen Hopkins, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2010.
Ida was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Speed, Missouri until the church closed. She worked for Homemaker Home-Health Care, Jefferson City, Missouri, for over 30 years. Ida lovingly cared for all her patients. Her patients loved her and looked forward to her weekly visits. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and caregiver. We all enjoyed going home to get some of her wonderful meals she would prepare for us. Whenever her children or grandchildren needed her, she was always there. We will miss her dearly, but we know she is in a better place now.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Laverne Johnson of Boonville, Missouri and Tamera Brown of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Lottie Jean Giboney of Champaign, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kyle, Sashaphine, Joshua, Victoria, ShaDonna, and Justin; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Hildreth of Columbia, Missouri; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Hopkins; her son, Charles Hopkins (June 8, 2014); four sisters, Mary Will, Mary Catherine, Elnora, Rosa Lee, and one brother, Marvin Smith.
