Howard Turner, 84, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at his home.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Saturday at the church.
Howard Edward Turner departed this life on November 26, 2025, at his home in Columbia, Missouri. He was born December 1, 1940, in Columbia to the late Shannon D. Turner and Althea Caston.
Howard was a graduate of Douglass High School, where he was an avid sports fan, playing football and basketball. He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1960 to September 1964. After his honorable discharge, he began his career as a barber. He lived in California following his discharge, attending barber school. He later returned to his home in Columbia and worked at the “Black Magic” Barber Shop. He also worked as a barber at the VA Hospital. He worked at Family Counsel for 20 years before retiring.
He married Cora Hickem on September 28, 1994, in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Clay Taite. They shared 31 years of marriage.
Howard is survived by his wife, Cora; her children: Darrell, Marcus, and Kiki; and a host of nieces and nephews: McKees, Coats, Fergusons, Hickems, Bentleys, Eubanks, and Stemmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard Ferguson and William McKee Sr.; and his sisters, Louise Ferguson and Dorothy Hickem.
