Helen Spruell, 83, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the University of Missouri Hospital. Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church in Sedalia. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church on Saturday. We are grateful to have you with us today as we celebrate the life of our loved one, Mrs. Helen Joyce Spruell.
Helen was born on September 15, 1939, in Sedalia, Missouri to Claude Herndon Sr. and Myrtle Johnson Herndon. She graduated from C.C. Hubbard High School in 1957.
Helen confessed her faith at Quinn Chapel AME Church at an early age, where she remained until its closure in 2014. She joined Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church in 2015. She loved singing for the Lord, which she looked forward to every Sunday.
Helen's heart was her family. Helen passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 83.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband Robert Spruell, two sons Marvin and Harold Maurice, brothers Claude Jr., Howard, Kenneth and Bernard Herndon.
Surviving relatives includes sons Anthony "Toney" (Victoria) of Arizona, David (Dana) of Blue Springs, Missouri, Daughter Denise of the home. Sister Gloria Wright (Clayton) of Sedalia, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, two sets of twins, a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special sister-in-law Bobbie (David Smith) of Kansas.
