Helen Glynn's Obituary
Helen Glynn, 71, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at her home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #2730 in Columbia.
Helen was born and raised in Kansas City. Missouri. She graduated from Manuel High School where she studied cosmetology. She went on to attend UMKC were she participated in the Upward Bound Program. The Upward Bound program was one of the greatest influences in Helen’s life. In recent years she reconnected with many of the people she met through the program and was so proud to hear each of their success stories that many contributed to the Upward Bound Program.
Helen married the love of her life Stephen in May 1970 and they spent the last 51 years building a family and loving one another well. They spent many years moving around the Midwest with Stephen’s career until they made their forever home in Columbia, MO in 1985.
She is survived by her husband Stephen Sr, daughter, Rachelle Whitfield (Chris) of North Carolina, son, Stephen Jr (Heather) of Columbia, MO, grandson, Xavier Martin of North Carolina, sister Konnie Grey of West Virginia and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Canfield Sr., mother, Mary Brown Canfield, sisters, Hazel Thompson and Virginia (Christine) Robinson, brother John Canfield Jr., and nephew, Gary Canfield.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that you contribute in her memory to UMKC Upward Bound Program.
