Gloria Jean Barnett, born July 23, 1946, departed this life on March 24, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sterling “Boots” Barnett; her cherished grandson, Tyson “MacDaddy” Tindall; her father, Eugene Madison; her mother, Ora Lewis Madison; her brother, Phillip Edward Madison (Janie Hubbard Madison), Godbrother, Leroy McKee and her favorite dog son, Bootsie, who was her loyal
companion for many years.
Gloria Jean grew up between Fayette and Bowling Green, where she was baptized at a young age by her grandfather, Rev. Perry Madison, instilling in her a lifelong faith that guided her through the years.
She began her career at Pike County Hospital and later worked for State Farm Insurance Company. Dedicated to caring for others, she also worked at Keller Hospital, Boone Retirement Center, and The Bluffs. Additionally, she took on part-time work at Central Methodist University (CMU) and The Braun Home, always striving to make a difference in her community. Gloria Jean found true happiness in her marriage to the love of her life, Sterling "Boots” Barnett—because, as he would say, " You know the deal.” Their love was the foundation of a beautiful life filled with laughter, devotion, and family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: daughters, Tereska Kay Chatman, Kimberly Renee Chatman Young (special son-in-law David); sons, Arlando Barnett (Latrice) and Charles “Chucky” Barnett (Wendy); her brother, Larry Madison (Paula); her sister, Mary Lee Cravens; and her goddaughter, Dana Cooper. To her grandchildren—Tyrell Roberson, Orreshia (Luba) Chatman, and Jaden Cowans— she was more than just a grandmother; she was their beloved Momma Gloria Jean, always there with wisdom, love, and an open heart. She was also blessed to see the next generation flourish, as she leaves behind three great-grandchildren (Tylen, Kalley, and Harvey) who will grow up with her love woven into their lives. Gloria Jean had a deep and special bond with many of her nieces and nephews, who knew that her love extended far beyond words. Among them, she shared an especially close relationship with her niece, Chastity Jeff, whom she helped raise alongside her sister Mary Lee. Their connection was one of love, mentorship, and unbreakable family ties. Gloria Jean’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but her
legacy will live on through the many lives she touched
