Gladys Crook's Obituary
Gladys Crook, 85, of Boonville passed into eternity on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Ashley Manor Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2010 at St. Matthew AME Church. Visitation will be from 11-1 pm Saturday at the church.
Gladys Irene Crook, daughter of the late Leslie and Mamie Brown was born on September 17, 1925 in Boonville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her brother Alvin Brown and her sister Maxine Estill.
Gladys was united in marriage to the late Gilbert Smith Crook, to this union two sons and a daughter were born, Gilbert Jr., Terrance Roman and Anita Irene.
She was a long time member of Saint Matthews A.M.E. Church where she was an honorary member of the Stewardess Board. She was a long time member of the Teach and Sew Club and also a member of the CCBC Club.
Gladys was employed as a caregiver most of her life. She continued to care for those she came into contact with in her position as a Foster Grandparent with the David Barton Elementary School. Gladys was a loving , generous, and a sweet person with a “dry sense of humor” .
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sons Gilbert Crook(Loretta) of Clinton, Maryland, Terrance R. Crook Crook (Carol) of Boonville, Mo., and a daughter Anita Irene Guess(James) of Buffalo, New York, grandchildren Derrick D. Daniel(Greta), Adrianne Spidell, Toni Vazquez(Raul), Terri Sutton(Al. B.) Stephanie James(Jeffrey) Terrance R. Crook Jr., Jeffery David Crook, Vincent Anthony Crook(Theresa), Crystal S. Crook, and sixteen great-grands, two devoted and loving sisters Clemoris Allen and Roberta McGill, both of Boonville, five nieces Gwen Smith, Ophelia, Chaneta, Janice, and Corita, and one nephew Robert and a host of great nieces, great nephews a God Daughter Debbie Moore, step grandchildren and great grandchildren and many other relatives and good friends.
