Ethel Shipley's Obituary
Ethel Shipley,91, of Fayette, surrendered her soul to Christ on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at La Plata Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 4, 2014 at 2 pm at Second Baptist Church in Fayette. A visitation will be held on from 1-2 pm at the church.
Mrs. Shipley was born April 13, 1923, to Benjamin Harrison and Fannie Dade Gibson in Old Franklin.
She attended school in New Franklin and Fayette. She worked in Columbia for several years at the University of Missouri campus and for over 25 years at Central Methodist University including the Presidents Home. She was a member of Holy Ground Tabernacle Church in Fayette. She married G.W. Shipley on October 19, 1968 and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shipley is survived by daughter Deborah (Jim) Spalding of Kirksville, MO; and sons Bradley Banks and Tommy Banks of Fayette. She also leaves numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jean Basket, Ella Mae Gibson, Fannie Broadus, and grandson Rodney Jackman.
