Elsie Alline Glasgow-Johnson entered eternal life on June 17, 2025, her life was a beautiful testament to love and devotion. Born on May 12, 1941, in Columbia, Missouri, she was the daughter of Helen and Eugene Glasgow. Elsie grew up in a small community where strong family values and resilience were a way of life.
Elsie attended Lincoln Public School and later completed her high school education. Her upbringing was deeply rooted in faith, often attending both Baptist and Methodist churches alongside her mother, Helen. Elsie final church home was in Fayette, Mo at Holy Ground Christina Tabernacle. Elsie and Helen were as close as a mother and daughter could be—forever connected by love and understanding. Following her schooling, Elsie entered the health care field as a nurse aide. She found deep fulfillment in caring for others and brightening lives not only through her nurturing spirit but also through her beloved cooking. Elsie lovingly cared for her mother, Helen, as well as several other women in need before retiring from her career as a nurse.
Elsie was first married to William Jack Harris from this union she was blessed with four beautiful children, her sons Waymond Glasgow, William T. Harris Jr., Dannye Harris and her daughter Marita Harris. Though their marriage eventually ended, they remained connected through the family they created. Elsie found love again with Charles Johnson Sr., with whom she shared two sons: Charles Johnson Jr. and James O’Neal Johnson.
She lovingly raised her granddaughter Kenya Johnson from the age of seven and served as a devoted mother figure, playing a deeply involved role in the lives of her other grandchildren—Shantae Harris, Dantae Harris, CJ Johnson, Aaliyah Johnson, Waymond Glasgow Jr, Danielle Harris and Santana Alline Glasgow—as well as countless other grandchildren and great-grandchildren she touched near and far.
Elsie was a God-fearing woman—bold, honest, loving, and deeply rooted in living a life aligned with Christ. She found joy in sipping her Folgers coffee, listening to gospel music, and reading her morning scriptures as well as spending time with her family.
