Edith Marie Overton Samuels' Obituary
Edith Marie Overton Samuels, 59, of Boonville, passed into the halls of eternity on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Riverdell Care Center in Boonville. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Friday May 13, 2016 at St. Matthews AME Church in Boonville. A visitation will be held from 2-3 PM at the church.
Edyie was born at the University of Missouri Hospital on January 30, 1957 the daughter of Chap Jr. and Lois Violet Overton. Edyie attended Boonville and New Franklin School districts. She worked at the Intertherm Factory for 11 years; she left to take care of her first grandson Da’Rell Overton. She cherished her grandchildren each and every one. She wanted to have them around her at all times. She loved to garden and planted vegetables every year for years. She had a green thumb, her home was filled with beautiful plants and would fuss if you moved or bumped into one of them.
Edyie was a member of St. Matthews AME Church; she was a born again Christian and loved the Lord.
Edyie married Morris Brown November 1976 and that marriage produced two beautiful children DeKoven Brown and Jemica Coleman. In February 2001 she married the love of her life Darrell Lynn Samuels.
Edyie leaves to cherish her loving memory Melanie LaChelle Brazil of Boonville, MO., her first born child who she adored and loved with all her heart, and DeKoven Brown of Phoenix, AZ., Jemica Coleman(Randy)of Boonville, MO., her husband Darrell L. Samuels, Edyie has eight grandsons Da’Rell Overton , Tavious Brazil, Malik Brazil, Tavon Coleman , Tramell Coleman , and Treveon (TMan) Coleman, Justin Keith , and Kadeem Waligura, two great-granddaughters who she adored LaBrya Overton and Lamya (Mymy) Overton One sister Deborah Thomas (James) of Rex, GA., three brothers Glenn Hemingway of Kansas City, MO., Richard Overton (Jackie) of Topeka, KS.,and James Maurice Overton of Columbia, MO., Two aunts Esther Mae Perry of Boonville, MO. who had a special place in her heart and Ethel J. Tuggle of Kansas City, MO., and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was loved and cared for so many people; she would give her last to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chap Jr. and Lois (Dolly) Overton, her grandparents Chap Sr. and Edith Overton, two sisters Sheila Hemingway and Rosita Overton, three brothers Lloyd Hemingway, Charles(CW) Hemingway and Norman Overton, one son-in-law Kirk Brazil.
