Donald Shepherd's Obituary
Donald Lee Shepherd (Don), 83, of Sedalia, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Four Seasons Retirement Center.
Don grew up in Washington DC, as a boy he was a frequent visitor to the Smithsonian Institute Museum. Some of his favorite memories were of touching the "Spirit of St. Louis" and watching the lights come on over the Lincoln Memorial after WWII.
His Family moved to China Lake in California and Don enlisted in the Navy where he served for four years during the Korean War.
Don was an animal lover. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking with his wife when they lived on the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington State.
He moved to Sedalia in 1996 to help open the Auto Zone store where he worked until retirement
Surviving are his wife Rose Shepherd who works at Wal-Mart, his daughter Jayne Stowell (of Sedalia) and his beloved dog Suzy. Other children live in California, New Mexico and Texas.
At his request no funeral services are planned. Memorials can be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter.
