Donald Randall's Obituary
Columbia, MO – Donald (Don) Randall of Columbia, MO, passed away at home surrounded by love ones on March 3, 2022.
Don was born Apr.10, 1927 in Ventura, CA to Charles and Susan Randall.
Don graduated from Ventura High School in 1945 and then joined the Army Air Corps. He served in the Army until l 1946 after which he enrolled in the University of California, Berkeley. Don then enrolled in the the University of Nevada, Reno where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining and Engineering.
During his career, Don worked at the Stanford Research Institute, Physics International Co., Astron Research and Engineering, Magnetic Pulse, Inc, and Kinetic Systems. In these positions, Don was involved in the planning, conducting, and analysis of experiments in high-energy physics. Don was a Fellow of the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers and a member of the Aeroballistic Range Assoc. He also was the inventor and patent holder of an ultra-high-speed camera system.
On August 23, 1986, Don married his high school sweetheart Thelma Fox. They enjoyed traveling, backpacking and gardening in California before moving to Missouri in 2006, where the couple continued participating in their hobbies. Don and Thelma were also active members of the Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church of Columbia, MO
Don is survived by son David Randall (Bremerton, WA); son Baraa Randall and wife Yasmeen (Toronto, Canada); daughter Anita Harper (Clovis, CA.); son Steven Boll and wife Karen (Fishers, IN); Robert LeSchofs and wife Mary (San Diego, CA); sister-in-law Mary Fox (San Diego, CA); daughter Kathy Hughes (Rocheport, MO); and numerous special nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ellen Harlock and Susan Carter, and brother Charles Randall, Jr. Sadly, Don’s wife Thelma passed away on March 7, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church, Columbia, MO; to Rainbow House 1611 Towne Dr. Columbia, MO 65202; to Coyote Hill Children's Home, 9501 Coyote Hill Rd, Harrisburg, MO 65256; or to the PET Project, 1908 Hereford, Columbia, MO 65202.
