Intelligent and outgoing, would be how family and friends would describe Donald David Johnson who departed this life on February 5th, 2013. He loved life and enjoyed socializing.
Don was born to the late Rose and David Johnson on June 9th, 1932. After graduating from Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul, MN, he attended Lincoln University. While attending Lincoln, he met and married Mary Ann Washington. To this union were born Donald (Sheree), David (Yvette), Leslye, Lisa and Lorri. He finished his undergraduate studies to become a proud alumnus of the University of Missouri and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Affectionately known as “Bubba Do”, Don never met a stranger and was adored by everyone he met. His lifelong passion was the game of golf. He was a skilled golfer and enjoyed playing as often as his schedule permitted. He frequently participated in golf tournaments and loved watching televised tournaments. He loved his family and was especially proud of his children, 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mourning his death are nephew Robert and niece Stacy Lewis; step-children Al, Natalie and Junior Spicer as well as a host of other relatives, treasured friends and acquaintances.
Don was an entrepreneur and natural born salesman. His talents were reflected in the businesses he owned which included a gas station, auto sales, real estate, and residential construction companies all in Columbia during the 60s. Also, during this time he satisfied his political ambitions by running for Columbia 2nd ward councilman. He co-founded a residential construction company in St Paul MN in the early 70s. He eventually made his way to Evansville, IN to build homes and sell real estate along with a stint in sales at Sears. He capped his career in St Louis, MO at Lambert International Airport. Don later moved to the Dallas area where he faithfully attended North Garland Baptist Fellowship.
Preceding him in death were his sisters, Rosie Mae Martin and Joan Lewis.
