Dennis Moon's Obituary
Dennis Moon,65, of Marshall, took flight with the angels on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Fitzgibbon Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 18, 2013 at 2 pm at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm at the church.
Dennis Russell Moon of Marshall was called home on Tuesday May 14, 2013. Dennis was born and raised in Nelson, Missouri by his great-grandmothers Lena Johnson and Ora Washington. Dennis was baptized in Nelson’s Freewill Baptist Church. As a child he enjoyed horseback riding, playing basketball, running track, and watching NASCAR races. He graduated from Nelson High in 1965. Dennis loved music especially Otis Redding and KC and the Sunshine Band.
During the summer of 1966, Dennis met the love of his life, Pearl “Lois” Patton. They wed on October 10, 1968. Together they raised three daughters Drarese Rushell, Andrea Lynn, and Barbara Joann. Dennis worked at Marshall Rehabilitation Center, Saline County Highway Department, and Broadlawn Medical Center in Iowa. He worked as an apprentice plumber at Wolins. He retired at age 50 due to his health. Dennis and Lois lived together in Marshall at the time of his home going.
Dennis’ life is celebrated by his wife, Lois, their three daughters, Shell (Cedric), Lynn (Dana) and BJ (Bambi); three grandchildren, Angela Baker, Xavier Wright, and Xayden Wright and a great-grandson Xavier Wright Jr., a host of Brothers and sisters, nieces, and nephews, and many, many friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his great grandmothers Lena Johnson and Ora Washington, his mother Barabara Jean Straws-Moon, Father Wilbert A. Henderson, Grandfather Russel Straws, brother Henry C. Moon, sister Tanya Moon, and a niece Sanya Moon.
