Denise Bowmaker's Obituary
Denise Kaye Bowmaker, 61, died on August 12th, 2019 at her home in Columbia, MO after a long battle with cancer.
Denise was born on July 2, 1958 in Concordia, KS to Charlene and Lee Bowmaker. She grew up in Columbia and attended Rockbridge High School. She studied at the Conservatory of Music in KC, MO, where she met and married Michael Robertson. They returned to Missouri in 1980 and had two daughters, Alicia Isdes and Joni Antonia.
Denise had a successful career as a saxophonist, playing with numerous groups in Missouri. She also traveled across the country and internationally to perform. She played many styles of music, but her number one love was jazz. She also loved traveling, the outdoors, and homesteading on her land.
Denise is remembered for her selflessness, being a person of her word, for her resourcefulness and her can-do attitude. She is much loved by her family. She is survived by her ex-husband Michael Robertson, her daughters Alicia Isdes and Joni Antonia of Columbia, Mo, her brother Reid Bowmaker and mother Charlene Bowmaker of Columbia, Mo, and her sister Susan Zablocki of Cape Coral, FL.
