Deborah Star's Obituary
Deborah Leshanna Veshetta Rene Star, age 54, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 10, 1970, in Lexington, Deborah was the daughter of Ethelyn Lee (Moss) Taylor and the late Willie James Star Jr. Deborah was preceded in death by her stepfather John “Dick” Taylor, brothers Desimund Star and Gregory Taylor, grandparents Willie James Star, Sr., Jewell “Big Mama” Gilcrease, Addie Johnson and Leroy Moss.
She is survived by her mother, a sister Ida Ray of Arkansas, five brothers Keith & Kevin Star of Arkansas, Lavell Moss, Benny Moss, and Pat (Christy) Taylor of Lexington, Mo., and her goddaughter Danielle Cole of Charlotte, NC., and nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins whom she loved dearly.
Deb or “Big Deb” as many knew her, was a sweet, devoted, loving, caring and gracious sister, friend and family member. Although no children of her own, Deborah loved her nieces & nephews dearly, she was a mother to many, she loved and raised a village.
Deborah was known for her kind heart, infectious laughter, creation of “nicknames” and unwavering love for children. She received her education from Lexington High School and studied higher education at National American University. Deborah dedicated her career as a Child Care Giver in the Lexington, Richmond & Kansas City community.
Deborah was an avid lover of Winnie the Pooh & Unicorns. Outside of that, Deb was a long time and faithful Raiders fan, she enjoyed talking on the phone, taking care of her pets and hanging with family & friends. Deb will deeply be missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
