Darrell Lynn Samuels' Obituary
Darrell Lynn Samuels, 65, of Boonville, MO, formerly of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist church, East Moline, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Burial is at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Darrell Lynn Samuels was born May 11, 1951, in Moline, IL, to the late Wilbert L. Samuels Sr. and Edith Mae Graves Samuels. He married the love of his life, Edith “Edyie” Marie Overton in February 2001.
He graduated from United Township High School where he excelled in the sport of basketball. He was on the All-American team in 1968-69. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1971. He worked at the John Deere Foundry, East Moline, IL.
He united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He was a sports enthusiast and loved to watch basketball, football and baseball. He loved music and enjoyed dancing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Diallo (Alicia) Samuels, Olathe, KS; grandson Diante’ Samuels, Durham, NC; step-daughters Melanie Brazil, Boonville, MO and Jemica (Randy) Coleman, Boonville, MO; step-son DeKoven Brown, Liberty, MO; sister Brenda Joyce Graves, Alexandria, VA; brothers Wilbert Leon. Jr. (Rolanda), Rock Island, IL; Malcolm Carl Samuels, East Moline, IL and Gary Samuels, Davenport, IA; nieces Adrian Samuels, Calandra Samuels, Phylecia Samuels Hughes, and Michell Blanks; nephews Brian Samuels and Ryan Lewis and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert L. Samuels Sr. and Edith M. Samuels and his wife Edith “Edyie” Marie Overton Samuels.
