Judy Norris Coomer
I had the honor of serving with Chevron in the Army, and when I think of him, I think of someone who brought humor, heart, and light into even the hardest moments.
One of my favorite memories of him was out in the field, when he volunteered to play the “head injury patient” during training. He committed to it completely — so completely that at one point he took off running, proudly proclaiming himself “General Electric” while everyone chased after him. It was chaotic, ridiculous, and absolutely unforgettable. He had a way of making people laugh even in the middle of long, exhausting days.
Another memory that still makes me smile is during a PT run. Soldiers with profiles were told to fall out of formation, and when we got back, the lieutenant asked him what his profile was for. Without missing a beat, he said it was a shaving profile — which promptly earned him a smoking. He took it in stride, with that same mix of humor and resilience that defined him.
He will be remembered with deep respect, fondness, and gratitude
