Chester Ganaway's Obituary
Chester Ganaway, 64, of Boonville passed into eternity on October 1, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 6, 2012 at 12 PM at Morgan Street Baptist Church in Boonville. Visitation will be from 11 AM- 12 PM Saturday at the church.
Chester Dean Ganaway (“BoDean”) was born on October 4, 1947 in Armstrong, Missouri to the late Ruth Ganaway and Ruben Ganaway. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on October 1, 2012. He was 64 years old.
After graduating from high school, Chester left Armstrong and moved to Columbia, Missouri where he obtained employment at the University of Missouri Hospital. He retired after 37 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement in 2002, he moved to Boonville, Missouri. Letting no grass grow under his feet he ventured into new territory – cooking, catering, and landscaping. He was infamously known as the “rib-man”. Family, friends, neighbors and communities alike could smell the aroma of his craft from miles away. “BoDean” was loved and respected by all whom he encountered. He met no strangers. His love for people led him to employment with the Braun Home as a caregiver until his illness in 2010.
He rededicated his life to Christ in June 2012 and joined the Morgan Street Baptist Church of Boonville, Missouri. Dad said “love, peace, faith, support, patience and God” helped him through his long battle with cancer.
Chester Dean Ganaway leaves to cherish his memory: 2 Daughters, Carla (Leroy) Lunn, of Baltimore, Maryland and Traci Ganaway, of Owings Mills, Maryland; the love of his life – Marsha “Babe” Williams and Charles Williams, Jr., of Boonville, Missouri; 3 Sisters, Genelle Hawkins, Devolia Eubanks, and Ruby (Larry) Mayfield, all of Columbia, Missouri; 5 Brothers, William (Ella) Tooley of Kansas City, Missouri, Delbert (Joyce) Ganaway, of Slater, Missouri, Glenn (Melissa) Ganaway of Fayette, Missouri, Lynn Ganaway, (his children) of New Franklin, Missouri; 1 Uncle, Thomas (Jacqueline) Lee, of Prairie Home, Missouri; 2 Aunts, Naomi Campbell of Higbee, Missouri and Alva (Woodrow) Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
