Cheri Smith's Obituary
Cheri Lynn Smith, 67, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, at her home.
Cheri was a graduate of Smith Cotton High School in 1975. She worked at Payless Cashways and Maxion Wheels in Sedalia, MO.
Cheri was born April 2, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of Alberta Smith and Calvin Claxton.
Cheri enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to garden, play cards, and barbecue. She lived life how she wanted and to the fullest!
She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Donease Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; Terrell (Christina) Willis; and Tanaeia Smith, all of Sedalia, Missouri.
10 grandchildren Kaidynce Smith, Jordan Lawson, Maxton Smith, Oaklynn Willis, Ella Willis, Ainsley Willis, Mi'Kobe Taylor, Mi'Liyah Taylor, Marielle Taylor, and Michylan Taylor.
3 brothers: Michael D. Claxton (Jewell) of Memphis, TN; Calvin Claxton Jr. (Bernice) of Terrell, AR; and James Smith of Sedalia, MO.
7 sisters Deborah Claxton of Bartlett, TN. Mary Claxton of Sedalia, MO. Rosa Lee (Gary) of Sedalia, Kim Claxton of Memphis, TN. Karen Claxton of Memphis, TN. Imogene Jones (Leo) of Memphis, TN, and Marilyn Smith of Dallas, TX.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Claxton and Alberta Smith; her maternal and paternal grandparents; her son Michael Smith; her sister DeVat Smith; her brother Melvin Claxton; and her granddaughter Marissa Willis.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Sedalia. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church. A repast will be served at the church after the burial.
