Chanel Taylor, 57, of Columbia, transitioned on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. She was born on June 9, 1967, in Columbia, MO to JoAnn Jordan and James Earl Cooper Jr.
Friends and family will be received from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Luke UMC.
Chanel attended Hickman High School and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Her love of her family and music defined her essence. Chanel’s straight forward way of speaking often elicited laughter and generated many memories creating a legacy of warmth that will forever be missed.
Chanel leaves to cherish her memory: her sons Terron, Keon, Dezmoray McKee, Tyreek, Jayveon and daughter Edwianna; grandchildren Taj, Kori, and Nasir; Brothers Nathan ‘Nate’ Stephens (Kristen) and Marcus Jordan (Dejena). Uncles Bruce Stephens, Alan Jordan (Joyce), Maurice Jordan, Marlon Jordan, Kevin Jordan; Aunts Peyton Jordan, Karen Jordan-Ware, Debbie Jordan, and Arnita Jordan; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Chanel is preceded in death by her parents JoAnn Jordan and James Earl ‘Sonny’ Cooper Jr.; maternal grandparents Herbert Jordan Sr. and Nettie Lee Jordan; Fraternal grandparents James Earl Cooper Sr. and Genell Cooper; Uncles Robert Jordan, Darrell Jordan, Herb Jordan Jr. & Aunt Lauren Jordan; Brothers Ronnie Stephens & James Earl ‘Binky’ Stephens, as well as many cousins.
