Chandia D'Wan Logan-Moncrief's Obituary
Chandia D. Logan-Moncrief, 35, of Columbia died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Chandia was born October 17, 1975 the daughter of Giles Allen and Gladys Pauline Logan.
Chandia was a loving and gentle as a new born cub, yet she was like a large burning flame. She was always speaking what was on her mind, even when she knew she was wrong. But that was my Chandia.
She attended Columbia Public Schools, and graduated from Rockbridge High School in 1994. She attended Longview Community College, she was going for a degree in Criminal Justice. Chandia heard the heavenly father on January 26, 2011 at 5:00 PM at Boone Hospital. She worked as a CNA at many nursing homes and her favorite was working with the mentally ill.
Chandia was given the nick name “Sham Pudding” by her father and the name “Sweet Thing” by her grandmother. She adored those names. ( Here they are baby girl.
Chandia loved to cook, her specialty was red beans and rice. She loved to sing, read, chat on the phone, write poems to her children, and she loved to play scrabble.
Chandia was married to James Moncrief on April 27, 2002 in Columbia, Mo.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, James Douglas Moncrief, of Springfield, Mo., her Mother Elect Lady Gladys Logan-Roland of Columbia, Mo., her step-father Clarence E. Roland of Columbia, Mo., her children two daughters Cherease’ LaDwan Logan and Guya Grace Moncrief both of the home, one son Zion Devon Rance Moncrief of the home, four sisters Tania Cherea’ Lewis(Joe), Linda Pettigrew, and Brenda Pettrigrew of Columbia, and Francis Goldman of Des Moines, IA., three brothers Courtni Allen Logan(Teresa), Cortinez Lapaige Logan(Resa) both of Columbia, and Quinton Quinzelle Logan of Des Moines, IA., two step-sisters Crystal Ward(Tim) and and Denetria Roland both of Columbia, one step-brother Tommie Crews of Columbia, five aunts Anna Sue Cravens, Leona Wayland and Mary E. Banks of Fayette, Nannie M. Broadus of Boonville, and Dr. Helen Clay of Des Moines, IA., five nieces Cherrelle, Tyahana, Kourtni, Layla and Paige’Sha, five nephews , Titus, Israel, Daylon, Jord’dan and Daniel, one great aunt Victoria Tumey of Columbia and one great uncle Sameul Logan of Slater, Mo. Chandia was preceded in death by her father Giles Allen “Guy” Logan, one brother Lance Devon Banks, maternal grandmother Mary M. Banks, paternal grandmother Maude Ella Hatton Falls, maternal grandfather Cordie Paige, paternal grandfather Robert A. Hatton, step-father Thomas “Skip” Crews, her favorite aunt Teresa Ann Banks, also left to cherish her memory are two loyal friends Kevin Moncrief and Steven Higgs both of Columbia, special cousins Cuqrita Whitley and Eric Cravens and a host of other cousins, friends and relatives.
