Cassandra Ellis' Obituary
Cassandra “Cassie” Lee Ellis, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, sister, friend, and animal lover, passed away peacefully at her home in Marshall, Missouri, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Born to Ellis Lloyd Collins and Janice Dean Collins on August 9, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, she was raised as a proud Dotte girl in Kansas City, Kansas. She later resided on the Missouri side in the Northland, until she met the love of her life and moved to the home and life of her dreams in Marshall, Missouri.
Cassie was preceded in death by her parents; niece Amie Michele Collins; and brother Lloyd Dean Collins. She is survived by her devoted husband Bud Ellis; daughter Breezi Nichole Maciel and son‑in‑law Jerrod James Maciel; grandchildren Levi Leroy Couch‑Maciel, Haley Dawn Fowler, Justice James Maciel, Sierra Anne Maciel‑North, Tristen James Vicar Maciel, Ashton Sage Maciel, Darius James Maciel, and Isabella Justine‑Ashley Maciel; great‑grandchildren Gorgonio Trinidad Marquez Soto, Ezequiel Romero Oliver, Ancksunamun Marquez Soto, Trenton James Maciel, Madilynn Rose‑Marie Wilson, Koleson Jay Fowler, Averie Rain North, and Daxton Arlan North. She is also survived by sister‑in‑law Rochelle Collins; Robert Vestal; niece Michelle Collins; nephew Shane Massing; Uncle Norm “Leon” Collins and wife Theresa; Uncle Terry Colwell; cousins Denise Bond; Tammi Barber; Jan and Marie Bond; Nancy Sherman; Amy Logan; Teri Colwell; Kayla Hasse; Heidi Hupke; Sheryl Shaw and husband Dick; Jeff Taulbee and wife Krystal; Edison Shaw; many other cousins, great nieces and nephews; and her best friend and “chosen sister” Angela Barnes, her husband Randy, their son Blake (whom Cassie adored as a grandson), and great‑granddaughter Aerilyn Barnes.
Cassie attended Hazel Grove Elementary, Coronado Middle School, and Schlagle High School in Kansas City. In her youth, she enjoyed bowling at Sunset Bowl, grabbing hamburgers at KoKoMo Drive‑In, and cheering from the stands at Riverside and Lakeside speedways. After a stint in Hawaii and her first marriage, she worked as a beloved bartender throughout Wyandotte County and later managed King of Kash and a gas station/smoke shop. True joy followed when she and Bud moved to Marshall, Missouri—retiring to spend her days at car shows, antique shops, and spontaneous adventures.
A passionate collector, Cassie cherished her extensive collection of Cherished Teddies and beautiful Cardinal bird figurines and statues. She loved her four-legged companions deeply and cared for many animals over the years, always making sure they had a loving home. Known for her radiant smile, sparkling eyes, and cheeky humor, she loved deeply—and often showed it with a playful flip of the finger. Her loving spirit and mischievous laughter touched all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
