Carolyn Stanley's Obituary
Carolyn Mae (Stone) Stanley (79) of Columbia, MO died May 21, 2026. She was born in Columbia, Mo at Boone Hospital on August 9, 1946.
She was the only child of Rosie (Palmer) and Warren Stone.
She spent her younger years in Highland, TX and, then, moved back to Columbia, MO. She attended Hickman High School where she met the love of her life, Michael Stanley but were just friends until reuniting years later and were married on June 19, 1967. They were blessed with two children, Tammie and Joe. Carolyn was an excellent employee at Big B Cleaners and later worked for 22 years at Ameren and retired in 2003. She came out of retirement briefly to be one of the original employees of Hobby Lobby when it opened in Sept. 2008.
She loved to mow her lawn, watch the Hallmark Channel, and enjoyed playing Mahjong on her tablet. She was known to always keep her white tennis shoes white and her clothes impeccably pressed, a side effect from working at the cleaners. She was a kind and joyful soul, who was always willing to listen and provide words of encouragement.
She was preceded in death by her mother (Rosie Stone), father (Warren Stone), daughter ( Tammie Lee (Stanley) Forsythe).
She is survived by her husband Michael Ray Stanley (Columbia, MO) of almost 59 years, son R. Joe Stanley (Candy) (Rolla, MO), grandson Seth Forsythe (Owensboro, KY) and two granddaughters Kaylee Stanley (Columbia, MO) and Paige Stanley (Rolla, MO).
Services will be at a date to be determined.
