Carol Sue Crittenden's Obituary
Carol Sue Crittenden, 70, of Boonville, Missouri went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 16, 2013 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 27, 2013 at 1 pm at St. Matthews AME Church in Boonville. The visitation will be held from 12-1 pm at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Carol Crittenden (Susie) was born August 30, 1942 in Boonville, MO the daughter of Buelah O. Wright and Henry G. Crittenden.
She attended the old Sumner School and graduated from Laura Speed Elliott High School. She was employed at Cooper County Hospital for 43 years as manager of Central Sterilizing and Supply before retiring in 2005.
After retiring Carol became an Avon Representative, and truly enjoyed her customers and meeting new ones but church was her main focus. As a member of St. Matthew Chapel AME Church, she attended regularly and was very active and committed to serving God. Her current positions included the Trustees Board, Stewardesses Board, Layman’s Organization, and President of the Missionary Society. Carol has also served as an Annual Conference Delegate, President of the Usher Board, and Superintendent and Secretary of Sunday School, member of the Choir and Bible study group. Carol also had a great interest in the youth of the church (YPD). She could always be counted on to decorate the church for every occasion. This September at Annual Conference Carol was to be consecrated as Deaconesses. She was also active in her community, serving on the Cemetery and Housing Authority Boards.
Carol leaves to cherish special memories one sister Margaret Williams of Boonville, MO, one sister in law Louise Jones of Springfield, IL, seven nieces: Sandy Robinson (Oliver), Beverly and Karen Jones of Denver, CO, Dorothy Austin (Monque) of Springfield, IL, Vonneva Parkins (Peter) of Coral Springs, FL, Claudia Mack (Larry) and Margaret Turner (Albert) of Boonville, MO; three nephews: Bill Brown of Seattle, WA, George Jones (Patrice) of Springfield, IL, and William Hobbs (Sharon) of Boonville, MO; a number of cousins, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, and numerous aunts and uncles.
