Benita Neilon's Obituary
Benita Karen (Baker) Neilon, 60, passed away at her home in Warsaw, Missouri on Sunday, September 17, 2017, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born in Salem, Arkansas on April 28, 1957 to Howard and Evalene (Uchtman) Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and her partner of 20 years, Raymond Hedrick. Benita and Raymond battled cancer together, keeping each other going during the difficult times. Their sense of humor, determination and strength was an inspiration to all around them. Raymond lost his battle on August 12, 2017. Both died peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Benita worked hard all of her life in many occupations. Her most recent employment was as manager of Dollar General in Lincoln, Mo. She could do whatever she set her mind to, and did just that. As an entrepreneur of sorts, she thought it was important to help out new businesses or the “little guy” in all of her dealings. She enjoyed small town living and kept a beautiful home full of mementos collected over the years. If you gave her a gift, she cherished it and had it on display somewhere in her home. Losing her parents early in life, she became the strong one to help the rest of us along. If you wanted an honest opinion, you asked Benita. She never held back the truth. Benita had the ability to find the uniqueness in everybody she met and made many lifelong friends. She will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.
Benita is survived by one daughter, Laura Miller, one son, Allen Cole, three sisters, Debbie Johnson (Rick), Tina McMahon, Becky Roth (John), a brother, Tim Baker (Connie), seven grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Jacob, Hailey, Dylon, Abby, and Caleb, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be held for the family in Elizabeth, Arkansas on October 14, 2017 at 4:00 PM. The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
