Barbara was born August 13, 1937 in Speed, Mo. the daughter of Clarence and Mary Wright. She attended Bunceton High School. On February 20, 1960 she united in marriage to Emmett jackson III. She was a longtime member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served as a Stewardess of the church until her health began to fail her. She loved listening to and singing good old church music. She always said she had to sing quietly so as not to bother anyone.
Barbara Jean never met a stranger, if you smiled at her that was the beginning of a conversation for her. She loved fishing in her earlier years and when the creek bank became too much for her, the interest went to BINGO!
For many years she did babysitting in her home, after that she became employed as a Nursr Aide at Burt Manor Nursing home until it closed, then joined the staff at Buena Vista Nursing Home. Later she worked as a cook at Minniolia Day Nursery until she retired.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Emmett Jackson III of the home, three children Mary Francis Harris of Denver, CO., Donna Jean Jackson and Emmett Jackson IV both of Sedalia, Mo., five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four sisters Betty Starks(Charles) of Springfield, IL., Georgia Maupins of Tipton, Mo., Marly L. Wright of Boonville, MO., and Margaret Ann Wright of Lompoc, Ca., one brother Richard Wright of Columbia, MO., and a host of loving nieces which include her niece Tina (LA)Boggess whom she helped raise, nephews, cousins , the girls next door , a God given sister Cassandra Johnson and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Dorothy Ware, five brothers Clarence(Pete) Jr., James, Donald, Melvin and Harold Wright.
Immediately following burial , a repast will be held at Burns Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
