Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Second Baptist Church in Columbia. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Columbia.
Barbara Jean Doxley was called home to be with our lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
Barbara Jean Doxley was born in Columbia, Missouri on January 21, 1931. She was the oldest of two siblings. Her parents are Stella Ruth Doxley of Columbia, MO, and Norman Ricketts of Boonville, MO.
She attended Fredrick Douglass School in Columbia, Missouri. She worked in the Maintenance Department at the University of Missouri for over 30 years where she retired from in 1992. At an early age, she accepted Christ. She was known for helping others when they couldn't help themselves and she had a heart of gold. Going to garage sales was one of her favorite hobbies. She loved to collect knick knacks among other items. She was an active member of Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clyde Ruffin until she became ill. She was also a member of the Sara Brown Women's Mission.
Survivors include: Her faithful companion Larney Parham and ten children: Delores Ruth Coats of Columbia, MO; Darlene Mathis (Malcom), Florissant, MO; Charleen Jones (Mark) Missouri City, TX; Martha Ann Doxley, Tulsa, OK; Linda Clay (Marvin) Staten Island, New York; Lorenzo Doxley, Houston, TX; Vickie Lynn Doxley, St. Louis, MO; Randy Leon Parham, Missouri City, TX; Renee Thrower-Smith (Al) Aurora, CO; Ronald Thrower, Denver, CO; 25 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by: Her parents, her brother Carl Doxley: Son Robert Cornell Doxley; daughters Doncella Brown and Lizzerean Doxley. Her legacy will live on for years to come.
