Arthur Carter's Obituary
Arthur J. Carter, 93, of Marshall, MO, was born on the 9th day of June 1933, in Marshall, Missouri to Cecil Carter and Florence Carter. Arthur transitioned into Glory on June 24th, 2026, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital.
Arthur was a devoted husband, hardworking person, all his life; having worked for Swift & Company MeatPacking Plant, Kansas City West Bottoms, Mo for many years; later moving to Columbia, Mo., where he worked for the University of Missouri until retirement.
Arthur is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mayetta Tucker Carter, who passed in January 2024. Their partnership was built on loyalty, laughter, family, and most of all love. Preceded also in death were his father Cecil Carter and mother Florence Carter; his son, David Johnson; two sisters, Lucille Carter and Mary Carter.
Arthur is survived by his Sister Shirley Stephenson, Belton, Mo; Brothers Thomas Poindexter (Shirley), Marshall, Mo; Robert Poindexter (Deanna) Hannibal, Mo.
Arthur will be greatly missed by his 3 granddaughters, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Noteworthy mention of his Caregivers: Tory Tucker (Nephew) Atlanta, GA; Careada Tucker (Niece) Kansas City, Mo; Sheila Stephenson (Niece) Marshall, Mo; Christina Periman, Marshall, Mo; Angelina Shockley, Columbia, Mo; Alex Mills, Columbia, Mo; and close friend Bruce Schone, Columbia, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to American Heart Association in his honor.
A Graveside Service, officiated by his nephew, Elder Charles Stephenson, Jr., will be held at Columbia Cemetery, 30 E Broadway, Columbia, MO 65203 on July 10th, at 1:00PM.
