Arnetta Jean Hill's Obituary
Arnetta “TT” Jean Hill, 53, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 17, 2025, at her home.
Born on December 23, 1971, to Mary Hill and Dennis Simmons, Arnetta was a cherished soul who touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Arnetta grew up in Glasgow and Columbia, Missouri, where she was known as a Daddy’s girl. She faced the loss of her mother at the age of 20 but remained strong and resilient throughout her life. As a young adult, she found joy in spending time with her children and extended family. Arnetta had a special love for fashion, particularly for stylish shoes and sunglasses—she could always be seen sporting her signature look.
One of Arnetta’s most defining qualities was her generosity. She loved to cook and share her meals with anyone in need. Children from the block, as well as nieces and nephews, would often gather at her home, where she made sure that all felt welcome and cared for. Arnetta also had a passion for gambling, with a particular fondness for dice, the boat, and bingo—anything where she had the chance to win.
Arnetta’s life underwent a profound transformation when she gave herself to the Lord. About three years ago, she began working with the Turning Point, where she served as an advocate for the unhoused. She found purpose in helping others, and her heart shone brightest when assisting individuals in the "Quiet Room" at her job. It was clear that she had found a calling, and the light in her eyes was evident when she made a difference in the lives of those around her.
Arnetta was known for her strong spirit, unwavering determination, and honesty. She was a loyal, trustworthy, loving, and independent person who never changed—she always remained true to herself, no matter what. Her love for her grandchildren was profound, and she treasured every moment with them.
Arnetta was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Hill; father, Dennis “Big Rick” Simmons; grandparents, Mary Helen and Everett Petty, Rosie and Robert Simmons; her brother, Ricardo Simmons; and her great-niece, Hannah Kent.
She leaves behind her six children: Chadwick Simmons, Doarle Hill, Jessie Williams, Nakysha Mozze, Tae’jour Hill, and Tyrale Hill. Arnetta is also survived by thirteen siblings: Pamela Hill, Marlo Hill (Tarita), Jessica Chambers, Ricky Simmons (Michelle), Santana Simmons, Tori Simmons, Kimberly Mahaney (Warren), Kortni McFarlin, and Michelle McFarlin. She is also survived by her six beloved grandchildren: Zyerra Simmons, Zamira Simmons, Zayvion McClain, Zaterrion McClain, Karalyna Mozze, and Vincent Hill.
A celebration of Arnetta’s life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Christian Fellowship Church in Columbia, MO. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church. Livestream will begin at 2:00 PM at https://www.youtube.com/live/AHsXwpUxsp8?si=vEymdom_qWmYpWJQ.
