I am named after my Aunt Arenda. My name is Marjorie Arneda Logan. I have many aunts and uncles on my father’s side, and technically a person is not supposed to have any favorites. However, I do and don’t mind admitting to this. My favorite uncle is my Uncle H (Henry Logan- God rest his soul). And my favorite aunt is my recently departed Aunt Arneda. I could go on and on about the times we have spent together. Although, that would take a lot of paper. So, I will share my favorite.
When my uncle passed we got a chance to spend time together reminiscing. We talked about the time we had talked on the phoneThanksgiving day. I had asked my Aunt Arneda what she had cooked for that day. What I actually said was, “Did you cook a “Traditional Thanksgiving” meal?” She of course chuckled and said “Marge, (that’s what she called me), what is a “Traditional Thanksgiving” meal. I started to rattle off turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes… when I realized she was joshing with me.
Because I could not cook, and still can’t that was always the standing joke whenever we got together as a family. We had planned to have a Thanksgiving meal (traditional), and I was going to help cook.
Unfortunately, with the pandemic, and other stuff we never got the chance to do it. I know she is up in heaven keeping the oven warm for me. Love and miss you much Aunt Arneda. (Marge)
Proverbs 18:24 a true friend sticks closer than a brother.
I am sure many have heard, read or are familiar with the above bible verse. That verse rings true for my sister-in-law, sister, friend Arneda Logan. And she was the epitome of that bible verse.
There are many times I was in need, and Arneda embraced me as if I were her blood sister. When I graduating from college and needed to do my student teaching she would allow me to raid her closet for things to wear so I looked like a teacher and not a college student. I would take the clothes she offered and a few extra. She knew, but never fussed at me for doing that. Being a newly wed, I did not know how to navigate marriage as an army wife, and she helped me. She would give me advice, monetary support, and just be a listening ear. We were playing card partners, and could bet the best in town (Fulton). We loved eating chitterlings together, and everyone knew when she cooked them I was coming over. The thing I remember most is being pregnant, and about to have my baby right outside the hospital door. Arneda said “Girl, don’t you dare have this baby out here.” I got it together by the grace of God, and was able to make it to a hospital room for delivery.
I will miss my sister, sister-in-law, and most of all my friend. Love you Reah Ann Logan.

Mrs. Logan was a nice lady with a wonderful sense of humor. I enjoyed when she would come in at Mosers or my downtown store. I enjoyed getting her worked up over politics.
Condolences to her family
