Anna L Allen's Obituary
Anna L. Allen, 75, of Columbia, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Columbia Healthcare. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Mt. Celestial Baptist church 1410 Grand Ave. in Columbia at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be from 11:30-1 PM at the church.
Anna Louise Allen was born February 28, 1941 to Stanford Nevels and Coletta Woody in Charleston, Missouri. She was the oldest of eight children. She battled health complications for many years.
Anna grew up, attended schools and was baptized in a small Baptist Church while living in Charleston before relocating to Columbia, Missouri where she went on to marry the love of her life, John Henry Allen. They were married March 10, 1963 in Cooper County. Anna and Henry are the parents of two beautiful children, Willie Lamar Allen and Crystal Danielle Allen-Kemp. She also helped raise a niece Tammy Nevels and a nephew Willie Nevels, like they were her own. Anna was employed with the University of Missouri and went on to retire in the year 2000 after giving 43 years of good service. Anna loved spending time with her family and having special events with friends. She had a passion for playing cards, fishing , bingo, crocheting , making ceramics, traveling and seeing her grandchildren each day. She taught them all how to play cards and even thou she had a heart of gold, she taught them how to fight and be tough.
Anna leaves behind her husband of 53 years and her son and daughter, her three grandchildren Rodney Kemp Jr., Adrienne Rodnae Kemp, and Roman Michael Kemp, one great grandchild Rodney Kemp III, one sister Leora Sue Glasgow , two brothers Earl Nevels and Clifford Nevels, one aunt Alice Nevels and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by three brothers Freddie Nevels, Sammy Nevels, Willie Nevels, one sister Betty Ganaway, and son-in-law Rodney Kemp Sr.
