Ameia L’Kay “Kay Kay” Ferguson, the daughter of Helen M. Ferguson and Earnest Willis, was born July 19th, 1974, in Gary, Indiana. Ameia began her formal education in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Upon graduating high school in 1993, she moved to Fort Jackson, South Carolina where she would complete basic training to become a member of the United States Army. After basic training, she returned to Milwaukee to begin the next phase of her journey. She started her family. Some years after giving birth to three wonderful girls, she relocated to Columbia, Missouri.
In Columbia, she completed her formal education when she graduated from Moberly Area Community College with an associate degree in Applied Science for Medical Laboratory Technician in 2012. Shortly after graduation, she began her career at the University of Missouri Veterinary Medical Diagnostics Lab.
Ameia started dancing in the 8th grade at Kosciuszko Middle School and continued on at the Milwaukee High School of the Arts. It seemed like once she started dancing, she never stopped. She loved jamming out to Prince and singing at the top other lungs to her other favorite artists. She developed a love for painting canvasses and getting tattoos. In her leisure time, she enjoyed camping, hiking and exploring the vast unknown of the outdoors. In August of 2020, Ameia and Jasmyn completed a 28-mile hike in just two days.
Ameia gained her wings on Monday, January 25th, 2021. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her mom, Helen M. Ferguson; her dad, Earnest Willis; her daughters, A’Lexus Carson, Ashlee Carson, and Amya Carson; her sister, Kendra Ferguson; her brother, Andrae Griffin; as well as six nieces, five nephews, host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that turned into family.
