On behalf of the Commission and staff of the Missouri Commission on Human Rights (MCHR), I want to express our deepest sympathies for the passing of our brother and friend, Alvin “Al” Plummer.
Al worked for the Missouri Commission on Human Rights for 24 years and served as the Executive Director for 19 years, making him the longest-serving leader in agency history.
I had the distinct pleasure of working alongside Al as he passed the torch over a morning coffee break, where he regularly shared stories and life lessons. I witnessed a rare blend of humility, integrity, kindness, and a commitment to servant leadership. He served the people of Missouri exceptionally well, demonstrating a passionate commitment to protecting civil rights for all, and making our state a better place to live and work.
On behalf of the Commissioners and staff of the Missouri Commission on Human Rights, I offer my sincere condolences to Sheila, the entire Plummer family, and everyone who holds his memory close. We honor his remarkable legacy and commit to promoting human rights for all. He will be missed.
Dr. Alisa Warren
MCHR, Executive Director
