Alice S. Thompson's Obituary
Alice Thompson, 79, of Columbia, slept into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday November 21, 2012 at Columbia Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 11 AM at Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Guthrie, MO. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM at the church.
Alice Susan Emma Dickerson Andrews-Thompson, 79, widow of John Thompson, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Columbia Manor Assisted Care Center, Columbia, Missouri. Born May 6, 1933 in Clarendon County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Susan Thomas and Richard Dickerson.
At an early age, she joined New Hope Union Methodist Episcopal Church and served in various church organizations. She was Educated in the Clarendon and Sumter County School Systems of South Carolina. She conducted additional studies with the American Educational School.
She was first married to the late Edward Andrews, She is the mother of two daughters, Vevlie Andrews Mitchell (Reverend Marion) and Earl Jean Andrews Epps. Ms. Alice Dickerson Andrews later married John G. Thompson, who preceded her in death.
Her surviving siblings are one sister Mrs. Peggy Jean Durant, of Sumter, SC; two brothers Mr. Rubin (Ernestine) Huggins of Miami, Florida and Mr. Esau (Betty) McLeod of Dobbs Ferry, New York. Also, surviving are four other sister-in-laws, Mrs. Louise A. Dickerson, Virginia Beach, VA; Mrs. Maebell A. Aiken, (Sweet) of Wilmington, North Carolina; and Reverend Emma Thompson, Sumter, SC. And one brother-in-law, Mr. Arthur Thompson (Gladys), of Philadelphia, PA. One aunt, Mrs. Bessie G. Mashore, of Pinewood, SC. Grandchildren; Anthony Mitchell(Mickeya),Allison Mitchell(Lonell), Ronald Chapman(Elizabeth), Naomi Epps. Six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews..Three brothers preceded her in death; Mr. Edward W. Dickerson, Mr. James M. Dickerson, and Mr. Vernon Huggins.
