Alfred M Smith's Obituary
Alfred “The Dancing Man” Smith, 76, of Boonville, MO passed into eternity on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at home. Memorial Services & Repass will be held on Saturday June 16, 2012 at 1PM at Morgan Street Baptist Church in Boonville, MO.
Mr. Smith was born on June 24, 1935 in Bunceton, the son of Edgar and Catherine Smith. After he graduated from high school he served in the Navy for two years. He retired from the Hilton Hotel in San Francisco, CA and he also retired from Blount Inc. in Kansas City, MO.
He leaves to cherish his memory his 5 children; Patti Jackson (Rosemary Jackson) of Atlanta, GA, Dedria Smith and Alfred M. Smith Jr. (Melrose Smith Parker) of San Francisco, CA, Catherine Smith (Beverly) of San Francisco, CA and Kalika Smith (Nellie Smith) of Stockton, CA. His sisters; Betty Christian of Kansas City, MO and Sister Marie Martin of Cincinnati, OH. His brothers; Lloyd James Smith of Southbend, IN and Winfred Smith, of Columbia, MO. His niece and nephew and his caregivers Emma Sheley and Michael Smith of Boonville, MO. Grandchildren; Tori Jackson, Todd Cornin, Clinton Al “Mookie” Bogan, Maxine Smith, DiAngelo Gleaves, Dion Smith, Sarena Smith, Alexis Smith, Sariah Shelton and Jordan Shelton; and many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Smith Sr. and Catherine Smith, his sisters Essie Eston and Leola Meneese, his brother Edgar Smith Jr., his nephew Edgar Smith III and his grandson Ronnie Robertson Jr.
Alfred, affectionately known as “The Dancing Man” will always be remembered as being a kind, honest and happy go lucky man that lived life to the fullest. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved to bowl and used to belong to a bowling league in San Francisco, CA. His favorite past time was going to the casino boat. He was the person you called when you needed a driver to take you out of town to your family reunion or to any event. He never said no to anyone. Everyone he met loved him. He will be missed by a lot of his special & close friends.
