Albert Smith's Obituary
Albert Smith, 90, of Columbia, entered into the Master's paradise on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Boone Hospital Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 16, 2016 at St. Luke United Methodist Church at 12 pm. There will be a visitation Friday April 15, 2016 from 5-7 pm at St. Luke United Methodist Church and another visitation Saturday from 11 am - 12 pm at the church.
Albert Smith, Columbia, Missouri made his transition on April 9, 2016 at Boone Hospital Center surrounded by family.
Albert the eldest child of nine was born on September 24, 1925 in rural Boone County, Missouri to the union of Herman and Lillian O. Williams Smith. Albert was the oldest member of the Log Providence Missionary Baptist Church giving his life to Christ during his youth.
Albert was a diligent laborer at: Ross Farm, Jim Akeman farm and cemetery, Warren Brothers Construction, Bass Farm, University of Missouri-Custodial staff, truck driver and yard crew, Cottle Implement, Campus Twin Theater, Paul H. Smith Trash Service. Retiring from the University of Missouri after twenty seven years.
Albert was united in Holy Matrimony to Norlee Lawson on July 27, 1968 after eighteen years of courtship. On January 22, 1969 became parents of a four month old baby girl “Tammy Michelle”. Daddy’s girl from the beginning to the end.
Albert leaves to cherish, daughter Tammy (Ackern), three lovely grandchildren: Ronald, Darian, and Airianna all of Columbia, Missouri; two step grandchildren: Domionte and Akile and seven great grandchildren, all of Columbia, Missouri; six brothers: James Howard, Sr., Homer, LeRoy, Ernest (Ruby), Dennis M., Harry B. (Charlene), all of Columbia, Missouri and foster brother David R. Williams, very special niece Marlene Smith Shumate of Peoria, Illinois. Host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Albert was preceded in death by both parents, wife of 39 years on July 26, 2008, one granddaughter Rashawnna, one brother Paul H. Smith, and one sister Virginia O. Smith King.
